Galaxy Shoes: DIY [attempt]

What you'll need:

any plain white or black shoes • tape (electric or duct) • acrylic paint (shades of blue, violet and pink, white) • sponge • cardboard • brushes (paintbrush and a toothbrush) • glitter • newspaper • gloves (forget to sue this one, so my hands got dirty. Tsk tsk)

  1. Setup your work area. Spread the newspaper down so that you can avoid mess.
  2. Wrap the side lining of your shoe with tape so that you don't get paint on them. Securely, I might add cause I wasn't so careful with mine so some paint still seeped through. It's terrible I tell you.
  3. Cut your sponge into smaller pieces, but not too small that you can't hold it properly. I cut mine into a triangle shape.
  4. Get your cardboard or any similar material and pour your paint in. Make sure it's large enough to fit maybe three or four shades of color.
  5. I didn't have that much paint so I just mixed what I had which is navy blue, light blue, red and white. Mixing the two blues and red, I ended up with a sort of plum violet. Adding a bit more red, it went to being burgundy. So just it's basically a trial and error method in getting more colors. I had cherry blossom pink with mixing more white than red together, and a sort of pastel purple when I added a small drop of light blue.

  6. Lightly dab your sponge on the colors and start patting them on your shoes. Start with the darker color first especially if the shoes you have is white. Spread the color all over the shoes but leave certain places out for a lighter shade of the same color.

  7. Add different shades of blue and violet. Blend the colors out. Go from dark to light then back again until you're satisfied with the look.

  8. Mix in a bit of pink and white on small portions of the shoe. The design doesn't have to be similar. The more different they are, the better.

  9. Finally, get your tooth brush and dip them in white paint. Then cut a small piece out from your cardboard and start flicking the brush with that. The drips of white paint should create a stars effect. Try flicking from a distance to have the effect of smaller stars.

  10. Paint few bigger stars on some areas. Add glitter. Not too much, though.
  11. Remove the tape from the sides and paint over with white paint if there are some parts that were accidentally painted over.
  12. Let dry.
  13. Take a selfie with it.

What Hogwarts House Would the Sorting Hat Choose for You?

Congratulations! You're a Ravenclaw! Have a seat in the Great Hall with Cho Chang, Padma Patil, and the Grey Lady, among others. Rowena Ravenclaw was known for her wisdom and wit. Though your intelligence may show itself in odd forms (remember your fellow Luna Lovegood), it's sure to help you in a fix. Gryffindor's bravery may serve well when facing a sword, but it would be well for him to have a Ravenclaw nearby when confronted with a cleverer opponent.

"Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind."
